Farmers markets show the Community Effort

November 8, 2007

Penderyn Farmers Market, January 2007The monthly Farmers’ Markets held in Llantrisant, Llantwit Fardre and Penderyn are now being run by the local community. The popular markets were previously managed by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, but will now be organised by local residents.

Councillor Graham Thomas, Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, Rhondda Cynon Taf, said: “These popular markets offer a wide range of healthy, delicious produce and are a huge asset to Rhondda Cynon Taf. We’ve decided to hand over the running and organising of the markets to people who are at the heart of local communities, so they can help the markets become even more successful.”

Locally produced lamb, beef, pork and poultry are on sale at the markets, as well as breads, cakes, chutneys, honey, cheese and more.
